Collaboration with UNODC and Interpol highlights the role of advanced AI technologies in combating cross-border financial crime
Vienna, Austria, 18 March 2026 – Feedzai, an AI-native RiskOps platform provider focused on financial crime prevention, has announced new commitments to strengthen global efforts against fraud and financial crime. The announcement was made during the Global Fraud Summit held in Vienna on March 16 and 17, where international leaders gathered to discuss coordinated strategies to tackle the growing challenge of digital fraud.
The summit brought together representatives from governments, law enforcement agencies, intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, civil society, and academia. The event focused on improving international cooperation, developing stronger regulatory approaches, and identifying practical solutions to address global fraud and financial crime.
During the summit, Feedzai pledged to support global initiatives led by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Interpol. The company introduced two commitments aimed at improving fraud prevention capabilities and encouraging collaboration across the financial services ecosystem.
The first initiative focuses on expanding access to advanced fraud prevention technologies. Feedzai plans to help financial institutions of all sizes strengthen protection for their customers through an AI-native federated learning service. This approach allows organizations to enhance fraud detection while maintaining compliance with global data privacy regulations.
The second initiative focuses on building stronger collaboration within the financial services community. Feedzai introduced Feedzai Fusion, a new community platform designed to bring together industry experts, financial institutions, and technology leaders. Through workshops and in-person events, the initiative will encourage knowledge sharing and promote innovative solutions for tackling cross-border financial crime.
Feedzai representatives also contributed to discussions during the summit. Pedro Bizarro, co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Feedzai, participated in a panel titled “Using AI for Good: technology in the fight to protect and educate the public from fraud.” The panel explored how artificial intelligence is being used both by cybercriminals and by organizations working to detect and prevent scams.
Industry experts highlighted that fraudsters are increasingly using sophisticated digital tools and AI-based techniques to carry out scams. However, advanced AI-powered systems can also help financial institutions detect suspicious activity, analyze fraud patterns, and prevent fraudulent transactions before they occur.
Feedzai also endorsed the Global Public-Private Partnership Framework introduced at the Global Fraud Summit 2026. The framework aims to strengthen cooperation between governments, financial institutions, and technology providers in order to improve global coordination against financial crime.
According to Pedro Bizarro, collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential for building a stronger defense against fraud. He emphasized that shared knowledge, continuous innovation, and cross-border cooperation are key to protecting consumers and financial systems from evolving threats.
As financial crime becomes increasingly digital and global, initiatives that combine artificial intelligence, data analytics, and international cooperation are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the global financial security ecosystem.
